Op. Dr. Mazhar Celikoyar

Op. Dr. Mazhar Celikoyar was born in Turkey.
After graduating as a doctor from the Hacettepe University School of
Medicine, Ankara, Turkey in 1982, Dr. Celikoyar started his post-graduate
residency at the Sisli Etfal Hospital specializing in Ear Nose and Throat
(ENT). He continued his education at the Marmara University Medical Faculty
Department of Otolaryngology, graduating in 1989 as a specialist in
Otolaryngology.
Between the years 1989-1993 Op. Dr. Celikoyar was the Chief Resident at
Sisli Etfal Hospital Otolaryngology Clinic. He became Vice Chief of the ENT
Otolaryngology Clinic, at the same hospital from 1993-1997 enabling him to
teach in his specialized area of expertise. From 1992-1996 he was active
abroad, in France, at the Institut Gustave Roussy, as an observer, and again
in France, with a scholarship, he worked at the Suresnes Hopital Foch with
Professor Frederic Chabolle. Apart from this, in 1992, he was invited to
participate for three months as an observer, by the Indianapolis Head and
Neck Surgery Associates. From here on he continued in 1994 as a
researcher for eight months. Following on from this, from July 1995-June
1996 he completed the fellowship program by the Indianapolis Head and
Neck Surgery Associates, thus gaining advanced surgical techniques in the
specialized fields of Head and Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic and
Reconstructive Surgery.
In November 1997, Op. Dr. Celikoyar established the OtolaryngologyHead&Neck Surgery Clinic at the Istanbul Cerrahi Hospital and is one of the
founders of the Facial Plastic Surgery Association, Turkey. He has practiced
in the same hospitals since 1997 until 2013 and since 2013 has been
practicing in the Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital.
Throughout his practicing years and more so recently, he has been involved
in salivary gland diseases’ surgical treatment and sialendoscopic techniques.
In the period of 2015-2016, in four sessions, he has completed a full course
entitled “Establishing A Modern Salivary Gland Practice, London, U.K.” given
by Prof. Mark McGurk, has published and presented on this topic, and has
organized a meeting in Istanbul, 2019, Sialendoscopy Istanbul, with Prof. Dr.
Michael Koch as the guest speaker, and didactic lectures as well as hands-on
training.
